Job Description

General Tasks

Ethics

  • Fosters a team environment that actively prevents inappropriate behavior.
  • Contributes to promoting awareness of the SI Code of Conduct and expected behavior standards.
  • Reports to the line manager any issues or information impacting team activities or safety.

Management (if applicable)

Ensures effective HR policies and procedures to maintain an adequately skilled and staffed team for assigned responsibilities:

  • Assesses and identifies the human resource needs of the team.
  • Manages recruitment and integration processes for new team members.
  • Conducts performance evaluations for team members.
  • Provides training and ongoing support to team members.
  • Promotes team engagement, adherence to safety guidelines, and compliance with logistics and administrative protocols.
  • Prepares handover reports for team members before contract completion.

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepares and submits weekly activity reports detailing team progress to the manager.
  • Participates in coordination or base meetings as requested by the manager.
  • Maintains positive relations with local stakeholders and communities in intervention areas.
  • Collaborates with MEAL and program teams to analyze and create data products (visuals, dashboards, reports) for dissemination to management, field teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Reports challenges related to activities, SI programs, or security concerns.

Technical Tasks

Monitoring of Activities

  • Assists in developing and updating monitoring plans, including indicator plans and APU updates.
  • Develops methods and tools for calculating MEAL indicators (indicator trackers).
  • Integrates indicators into data collection tools, aggregating data from various sources for reporting.
  • Ensures readiness of equipment for mobile data collection and mapping for enumerators.
  • Suggests improvements or new activities to enhance quality of operations or team approaches in collaboration with project managers.

MEAL Data and Tool Management

  • Oversees the development, review, and harmonization of monitoring and data management tools.
  • Implements procedures for secure and responsible management of MEAL data.
  • Designs data collection tools, encodes them for mobile collection, and develops databases as needed for MEAL activities.
  • Manages data cleaning and processing in databases, conducting preliminary analyses and visualizations per analysis plans.

Responsibilities

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in MEAL within national or international organizations.

Technical Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of project cycle management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Extensive experience conducting baseline and endline assessments and related surveys.
  • Advanced data management skills, including encoding, data cleaning, analysis, visualization, indicator calculations, and proficiency with GIS and KOBO.
  • Exceptional reporting abilities.
  • Strong leadership skills and independence in task management.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Language Skills:

  • Proficiency in both written and verbal communication in Dari and Pashto.
