Responsibilities and Assignments

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychosocial support and psychological first aid to survivors of war trauma, torture, GBV, and natural disasters.
  • Conduct screening and assessment of psychological distress.
  • Engage with communities on issues related to war, trauma, and GBV.
  • Utilize PU-AMI tools to submit timely, accurate PSS reports.
  • Collaborate with PSS Supervisor and database staff for quality reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical, culturally sensitive practices.
  • Raise community awareness on psychological distress and support options.
  • Refer patients to specialized services as needed.
  • Participate in training, self-care, and supervision sessions.
  • Support mothers and caregivers at MHT level and develop action plans for follow-up.
  • Assist with tasks as directed by MHPSS Coordinator or relevant program managers.

Objective 1: PSS Project Management

  • Provide psychosocial support to survivors of trauma, torture, GBV, and natural disasters.
  • Support pregnant women, lactating mothers, and caregivers of malnourished children.
  • Offer culturally appropriate support and psychoeducation to distressed individuals.
  • Follow guidelines for admitting and discharging PSS beneficiaries, sharing data with supervisors.
  • Promote community dialogue and unity around mental health issues.

Objective 2: Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare and submit timely weekly, monthly, or quarterly reports.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports on specific issues such as security or challenges.
  • Keep data and beneficiary information confidential and securely stored.

Responsibilities

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Certificate or diploma in Nursing, Midwifery, or related health education.
  • At least two (2) years of experience providing PSS support or therapy to individuals and groups with complex trauma histories.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or certified diploma in Psychosocial Counseling by MoPH is an asset.
  • Strong familiarity with the local context, language, and culture; preference for candidates from the relevant province.
  • Proficiency in local languages, especially Pashto and Dari, is preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel independently across project locations.
  • Commitment to humanitarian causes and principles.
