Job Description

General Tasks

Ethics

  • Establishes and upholds a team environment that discourages inappropriate behavior.
  • Promotes awareness of the SI Code of Conduct and expected professional standards.
  • Informs the line manager of any issues or information affecting activities or team safety.

Management (if applicable)

Ensures the effective application of HR policies and procedures to maintain adequate staffing and knowledge levels for assigned responsibilities:

  • Evaluates, quantifies, and qualifies the human resource needs of the team.
  • Conducts recruitment and oversees the integration of new team members.
  • Assesses team member performance.
  • Provides training and guidance to team members.
  • Ensures team communication, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with logistics and administrative guidelines.
  • Prepares handover reports for team members concluding their contracts.

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepares and submits weekly activity reports, detailing team progress, to the manager.
  • Participates in coordination or base meetings as requested by the manager.
  • Fosters positive relationships with local stakeholders and communities in areas of operation.
  • Contributes to data analysis and product creation (visuals, dashboards, reports) from MEAL team data, and collaborates with program teams for sharing with management, field teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Highlights any challenges related to SI activities or security concerns.

Technical Tasks

Monitoring of Activities

  • Assists in developing and updating monitoring plans, including indicator plans and APU updates.
  • Creates methods and tools for calculating MEAL indicators (indicator trackers).
  • Ensures indicators are integrated into data collection tools and oversees data aggregation for accurate reporting.
  • Prepares necessary equipment for mobile data collection and mapping for enumerators.
  • Suggests improvements or new activities to enhance operations or team approaches in collaboration with project managers.

MEAL Data and Tool Management

  • Manages the development, review, and standardization of monitoring and data management tools.
  • Implements procedures for secure and effective MEAL data management, following the responsible data cycle.
  • Designs data collection tools, encodes them for mobile data collection when needed, and develops databases based on MEAL activities in the field.
  • Cleans and processes data in databases, performs preliminary analyses, and creates visualizations as outlined in analysis plans.

Responsibilities

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in MEAL within national or international organizations.

Technical Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the project cycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Extensive experience in managing baseline and endline assessments and related surveys.
  • Proficient in data management, including encoding, data cleaning, analysis, visualization, indicator calculations, GIS, KOBO, and more.
  • Exceptional reporting abilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Language Skills:

  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both Dari and Pashto.
