PU-AMI teams work to support vulnerable and marginalized communities impacted by conflict, natural disasters, or economic crises. PU-AMI’s primary goal is to reduce morbidity and mortality and to provide emergency relief for those in critical need, helping them regain dignity.

PUI’s mission in Afghanistan is its longest-standing, with the first medical intervention launched in 1979 following the Soviet invasion. These projects are primarily implemented in eastern Afghanistan, with expansion into the South-East region. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, PU-AMI has become a key actor in pandemic preparedness and response, focusing on health and WASH initiatives at health facilities and community levels in Kabul and beyond.

Globally, PUI supports approximately 6 million people across 23 countries on five continents: Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Europe.
