HealthNet TPO is a non-profit, Netherlands-based organization founded on the belief that access to affordable, quality healthcare is a fundamental human right.

Established in 1992 by ‘Doctors without Borders’ to bridge the gap between emergency aid and long-term development, HealthNet TPO resulted from a merger between HealthNet International (HNI) and the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO). HNI brings expertise in healthcare system strengthening and the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases. TPO specializes in psychosocial and mental health care for survivors of conflict and natural disasters. HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is led by a team of skilled Afghan professionals with support from experts at the organization’s headquarters in the Netherlands.

In Afghanistan, HealthNet TPO provides essential healthcare services, including primary health care, mental health, psychosocial support, malaria control, and maternal and child health. The organization also offers training for community midwives and conducts operational research. Currently, HealthNet TPO operates in nearly 20 provinces across Afghanistan, implementing projects such as Health Emergency Response (HER), nutrition programs, mental health and psychosocial support, and tuberculosis and malaria control through a community-centered approach.

HealthNet TPO maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward sexual exploitation, abuse, and child abuse, taking all complaints regarding such matters involving employees or related personnel very seriously.
